We had a makeover and just in time for wedding season! A new website for your viewing pleasure, we heart it and hope you do too 🙂
The life a wedding planner is far from glamourous. I learned very early on never to wear a dress on the wedding day due to all the bending, lifting, crouching and climbing (yes climbing!) that is often required.
Style Me Pretty has 13 fantastic tips on why YOU should hire a wedding planner and we couldn’t agree more.

As we start to plan for Boobyball 2015 I thought it was time to share the long overdue pics from last year’s Big Top Booby!
I have been on the Rethink Breast Cancer committee since 2008, a charity dedicated to raising awareness and providing much need support for those in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s who are concerned about or affected by breast cancer. Boobyball has quickly become one of Calgary’s hottest events and it’s SO fun to plan! It’s an amazing party we put on every year, an over the top fundraiser to….well….raise funds! 2014 was no exception.
The theme: Big Top Booby. The venue: Hyatt Auto Gallery. The buzz: AMAZING!
It really was a magical night under the big top. An evening filled with colourful characters and surprises to stimulate all of the senses. Music from Pez Productions, lighting from PK Sound, roaming circus performers that dazzled, flowers from Phillip Chong Flower Bar, delectable treats from Whippt Desserts, hair and nails from Aveda and CnD Vinyalux, photo booth by SoPhoto, VIP booths styled by Orange Trunk Vintage Rentals and let’s not forget the savoury morsels from Devour Catering.

A HUGE thank you to the dedicated committee who made it all possible and our amazing sponsors, we can’t thank you enough.
Looking forward to this year’s event, stay tuned for details!!

Last week we posted our DIY DO advice for wedding projects you can do! This week we are focusing on the DIY projects you should NOT attempt:
Cake – Unless you are a professional baker, do not attempt this one! Heck, even if you are, take the day off! Not only will some venues not accept a cake unless it is made in a commercial kitchen, the stress that goes along with icing your OWN wedding cake is more than you need to take on days before your big day.
Bouquet – If you really want to take on flowers, leave the bouquets and boutonnieres to the pros and tackle the centrepieces yourself. Wedding bouquets are their own beast so we strongly advise against this one!
Photography – I’m sure you don’t want a wedding album filled with selfies, so please, please hire a professional. Yes wedding photography can be expensive, but it is SO worth it! 50 years down the road, aside from the memories, this will be the only thing you have left from your wedding day. So choose a professional, someone who shoots weddings and meshes well with your style and personality.
More DIY advice:
1 – PICK YOUR PROJECTS – you can’t do it all, so don’t try. Try not to choose too many perishable projects, instead choose items you can do well in advance. You will be busy with friends and family arriving, spa appointments, final confirmations, vendor payments, the list goes on.
2 – $$$ – DIY projects can add up quickly, be careful, choose wisely and do trials before buying anything in bulk.
3 – DIY can sometimes look….well….DIY. Again, this is where choosing wisely and doing trials comes in handy.
